The History of Tiger Rag!
 

Tiger Rag has been around for 95 years now. Written in 1910 by Nick LaRocca and recorded by his band, Original Dixieland Jazz Band, in New Orleans.  This tune has been played around the globe for almost a century.

 
  This CD includes recordings made through the years, and even some modern day versions. Although it is the same song, it has been recorded in so many different styles with so many influences that it can sound very different, yet the same.

This tune has been recorded by many music greats from Louie Armstrong to Glenn Miller's Orchestra, to the piano duo of Ferrante and Teicher. This CD contains recordings from all over the world, including a banjo/tuba version, a honkey-tonk version, a kazoo/skat version, paino version and of course several dixieland versions.  Then last but surely not least, there are the collegiate versions of Tiger Rag that bring thousands to their feet on any given Saturday in the fall.  No matter how you slice it, Tiger Rag will always remain a classic.
